Paros Nightlife Festivities
Paros, famous for its exciting nightlife, offers a great selection of clubs, bars and cafes, as well as dining venues ranging from small ouzeries and fast food stands to tavernas and posh restaurant. Nightlife in Paros is mainly concentrated in two areas, on the seafronts of Parikia and Naoussa. The clubs and bars in Parikia tend to be a bit more laid back than those in Naoussa, although it is a good idea to go to both areas for a couple of nights of bar hopping to see which suits you best.
While in Parikia, we suggest going to Evinos, Captain Norton’s and Kia Loa for an evening of delicious cocktails and mainstream music. The House bar is also a wonderful bar with unique décor and special music evenings. If you are a rock aficionado, you should spend your evenings at the Hard Rock Café or Alga. Jazz & Jazz and Pirate Bar play a combination of jazz and blues music.
Naoussa is also full of great clubs, bars and cafes that are housed in old fishermen’s storage areas. Some of the most popular nightlife venues in Naoussa are Agosta, Barbarossa and Café del Mar, which are cafes in the morning and bars in the evening. Vareladiko Club is the place where Greek music lovers go, while Nostos is a mainstream club with beautiful island-style décor.
Punta Beach Bar needs no introduction. It is a complex of swimming pools, shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, located on Punta Beach, which operates from morning to night. No matter what time you go to Punta Beach Bar, there are always young people dancing, drinking and in general having a fun time.
Another exciting place is the Aqua Paros water park, located next to Kolimbithres Beach, where you can find a wide selection of water slides, water games, cafes, bars and restaurants, guaranteeing a wonderful time for all ages.
As a typical traditional Greek island, Paros hosts many festivities every year. Often the festivals involve music, dancing and a plentiful variation of food. Some of the most well-known festivals are: the Fishermen’s Festival on the first Sunday in July in Naoussa, the Ascension of Christ on July 9 in Piso Livadi, the Transfiguration of our Saviour on August 6 in Marpissa, Our Lady of the Hundred Gates on August 15 in Parikia, the Novena of the Virgin Mary and the Reenactment of the Pirate’s Raid “Koursariki Nychta” on August 23 in Naoussa and Agios Ioannis Day on August 29 in Lefkes and Dryos.
Finally, your trip to Paros is not complete without trying the island’s delicacies. Pick a restaurant or taverna with a view and savour dishes such as mackerel “gouna”, chick pea soup, chick pea balls, rafiolia (small fried myzithra cheese pies), pies (spinach, squash, cheese or greens), fish soup, octopus on the grill, “karavoli” (traditionally prepared snails) and Paros wines, which are delicious and full of aroma.
