Arcadia Greece Nightlife & Events

If you visit Arcadia (Arkadia) Peloponnese, Greece you will realize that it is offered for a relaxing time as the number of bars and clubs is rather restricted. However, the bars are very atmospheric and various all-day cafés offer from all kinds of beverages to light snacks during the day and turn up the volume of music at night. Such places can be met mainly in Dimitsana and Vytina, as well as in the seaside settlements, too, where nightlife is vibrant especially during summer time.

On the other hand, if you are food lovers and you prefer to combine an evening out with dinner, try one of the traditional taverns or restaurants offering local and other Greek delicacies. Traditional fish restaurants are rather popular as you move towards the coast. Tripoli includes wider options for night time entertainment and dining, as it is the capital of the prefecture with many more spots where you can spend time with your friends or family during your stay in Arcadia.

For the fans of traditional events and festivals or fairs, Arcadia Greece is the place to be all year round, as each season provides a chance for celebration. If you find yourself in Tripoli during Easter don’t miss to attend the traditional celebration taking place at Areos square with singing, dancing and traditional food, such as skewed lamb. Easter celebrations are rather impressive and spectacular at Leonidio, too, as the inhabitants traditionally let lighted hot-air balloons fly up into the sky.

Various events are organized in villages where the locals pay tribute to the delicious products of the fertile ground of Arcadia. The most well known are the “Tsakonian Eggplant Festival” at Leonidio in July, the 3-day “Chestnut Festival” in Katanitsa late October, dating back to the early 20th century and the “Shepherd’s Festival” taking place at Perthori, Tripoli in July and where meat and wine are offered in a lively feast. On the 15th of August one of the biggest fairs takes place in Episkopi, Tegaea, where all types of products are sold and which lasts for 10 days.
